Introduction to statistics in experimental research

This introductory course intended for post graduate students will cover the basic ideas and concepts in designing experiments, sample size calculations as well as statistical analysis and interpretation of experiments. Themes include the analysis of independent and dependent data, and different outcome types (continuous, binary, count or survival). No prior knowledge is required but a basic course in statistics is no doubt helpful. The emphasis of the course will be on important concepts and ideas, and on concrete examples arising from biomedical fields.

  • Registration: in Moodle. Participation limited to 80 participants. If you have no access to moodle, you can sign up by sending an email to seppanen[at]utu.fi
  • 12 hours of lectures plus assignments (2 credits)
  • Lectures at Calonia (changes possible):
    • 22.04.2013 10:00 – 14:00, Cal2
    • 23.04.2013 10:00 – 14:00, Cal2
    • 24.04.2013 10:00 – 14:00, Cal2
